The elements in the diptych are inspired by the cultural history and heritage of the ‘Markato’ area in which the building is located.

Deriving from the Italian ‘mercato’ and built by the Venetians in 1699 the neighbourhood of ‘Markato’ was once a public market.

In the area one can still find shops and few craftsmens’ workshops
